What To See
When you enter Meow Wolf, be prepared to leave reality behind and enter a whimsical, parallel dimension. Our family was instantly captivated by the immersive environments and interactive installations. Having lived in Seoul, Korea for more than a decade where museum curators are often creating immersive and experiential art experiences for visitors, we have high expectations and Meow Wolf was all that and a bag of chips.
The experience begins with an intriguing narrative that sets the stage for your adventure. As you explore the space, you’ll discover hidden passages, secret rooms, and portals to other spaces. Yes, you may even climb through a dryer to get through to the next dimension. Some people in your group will want to go down, while others will want to go up and around. You may lose each other for a moment. If you’re taking kids, stick close because there are so many little places and spaces to find.. and hide.
Meow Wolf”s “The House of Eternal Return,” will transport you to a surreal world where time, space, and logic intertwine. Every nook and cranny is filled with fascinating details, from the mystical forest to the mind-boggling interdimensional portals. Are you up? Are you upside down? Is it night? Is it day? Good luck figuring that out.
As we ventured deeper into the house, we found ourselves drawn into an intricate web of clues and mysteries. The interactive nature of Meow Wolf encourages visitors to touch, explore, and engage with the art, making it a truly immersive experience and super fun for the kids you’ve brought along.
Painters, sculptors, musicians, and technologists came together to create a tapestry of sights, sounds, and sensations that transport visitors to another realm.
For families with young children, Meow Wolf offers a range of activities designed to engage and inspire. From hands-on art workshops to kid-friendly interactive installations, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The space encourages imagination, creativity, and play, making it an ideal destination for families seeking a truly unique and memorable experience.
FAQ
Is Meow Wolf for kids or adults?
I would say it’s appropriate for all ages however, it is dark and some spaces might be off putting or scary to some children that aren’t used to this very immersive style of experience. It can also be overstimulating or overwhelming so be on the look out. But, we took 4 year olds in our group and they loved it.
How long can you spend in Meow Wolf?
Two hours is a safe bet for this activity. There are a ton of details and stories that are told through the exhibition though so you could spend much longer if you have older kids who are really interested in uncovering the clues.
What do you wear to Meow Wolf?
This is a good question. I wore a long beautiful poncho dress and it was definitely a bit difficult to get through some of the cubbies and tunnels. Of course, I could go around. But that meant my kiddo was crawling through unattended at times (nah, my husband just had to be the one to follow her). Generally though, I would recommend wearing some comfortable clothing that allows you to really move and get involved with the space.
Is Meow Wolf worth it?
Meow Wolf does have a bit of a steep price tag so I can understand the apprehension if you’re not sure what you’ll get inside. We personally place more value on experiences over things in our house so found it fun and inspiring for us. If you’ve never been to an immersive art exhibition though, just make it worth it for you. How many hours would you have to spend there for it to be worth it to you? What do you want to get out of it? Answer those questions for yourself and I’m sure you can make the experience worth it for you.
Our visit to Meow Wolf was nothing short of extraordinary. The combination of immersive storytelling, mind-bending visuals, and interactive art installations created an experience that we’ll cherish forever. It’s a place where young and old alike can let their imaginations run wild and explore the boundaries of creativity.
