VinPearl Land: What To Do With Kids In Vietnam

Headed to Hoi An, Vietnam and looking for great things to do with kids nearby? We, a group of four families traveling with seven kids between us, wanted to ensure that we did a mix of cultural and fun so that everyone left a happy camper on our last trip there. After spending a day in the Old District of Hoi An, we made sure to spend a day in VinPearl Land and though I’m not usually an amusement park person, I LOVED VinPearl Land.

If you’re lucky enough to visit during low season like us, you might even have it all to yourself just like we did. Just look at this pic! We felt like Beyonce because I’m sure she would rent out an amusement park for a day so she wouldn’t have to wait in lines. After learning about VinPearl Land here, be sure to check out our family friendly three day itinerary for Hoi An, Vietnam!

What Is VinPearl Land?

Having never heard of VinPearl Land myself, I thought I’d just clear up what it is real quick for anyone else that might not know. VinPearl Land is basically the Disney World of Vietnam. While Disney World is much larger, VinPearl is pretty substantial and also features a palace and various themed sections just like that other park that everyone knows about. The theme park has activities for both children and adults and each one in Vietnam is just a bit different so you could visit them all and have different adventures within.

Vin Pearl Land, Hoi An, Vietnam

My husband and I had actually been discussing taking our little one to the nearest Disney Land in Asia but loved VinPearl so much, we sort of felt like we gave our little lady that amazing amusement park experience but at much less cost after going here. What was even better was that since we were visiting in off season we had the entire park to ourselves and that is no joke. Just check out the pictures.

It felt like what might happen if a super rich person rented the park for a day or maybe if the apocalypse struck and for whatever reason we decided to celebrate at an amusement park. The staff were turning on rides for us and only us and we were able to experience everything at just a fraction of the cost of Disney. Is it Disney? No. But did our five year old enjoy it just the same? I’m going to say yes. It was probably even better because we didn’t have to wait in a line once.

Where Is VinPearl Land?

We visited VinPearl Land Nam Hoi An and this is important to note because there are actually FIVE VinPearl Lands in Vietnam so don’t get them confused.

There is also VinPearl Land Nha Trang, VinPearl Land Phu Quoc, VinPearl Land Safari Phu Quoc, VinPearl Times City.

How To Book Tickets For VinPearl Land

Regular Admission: Adults: VND550,000 (~$24.00); Children: VND450,000 (~$19.60)

Because we weren’t quite sure how busy or not it would be, we opted to get our tickets online before we went. I had read that sometimes the queue to buy tickets can be quite long and since we had so many children with us, there was no way we’d be wanting to wait in a long line just to get in. Since it was low season, there weren’t lines anywhere BUT still, the process to get all of our tickets was quick and painless. We went up to the window for pre-registered tickets and picked them right up. Buy your tickets on VinPearl Land on Klook.com to take advantage of their great discounts.

Reduced Price Admission: Adults: VND200,000 (~$8.70); Children: VND100,000 (~$4.30)

  • Reduced price admission is available after 5:00pm.

How To Get To VinPearl Land Hoi An

As most people are likely staying in or near the Old District in Hoi An, here are the various ways you can get from there to VinPearl. The trip is about 15 kilometers if you’re coming from Hoi An, but the other nearest city is Danang which is 40 kilometers away.

Book A Private Driver: This is what we did and it was really easy using Klook. They rocked up to our guest house in the morning right on time and we all loaded in to two different vans and then they were waiting when we exited. Worked out great.

What To Do At VinPearl Land

We were lucky enough to visit in off season in November apparently because there was just a handful of people there but mainly the four families in our group.

Adventure Land

This is where we began our time in the park and it’s got all of the rides if that’s why you’re heading to the park. There are rides for kids of all ages and they include Bees in the Sky, Kiddie Swing, Choco Cup, Elephants in the Sky and Cinderella Carousel for the younger ones with you. The park was so empty that the rides looked like they were all off when we first walked through and then we realized that staff was actually at each one and as we got closer, they’d switch the ride on and call us over to get on.

It was really quite the experience being the only ones in the park. If you’ve got older kids, there is an 80m high Swiss Tower to the Super Chaos, Fast & Furious, Upside Down, Super Giant Helter Skelter, and Tree Swing among others.

3D Art Museum & 4D/5D Cinema

If you’re planning to spend more time at the park, you’ll likely want to stop into these spots. We didn’t do these as we had little people that didn’t want to sit still at all. But there is a 3D Art Museum that features art work that really jumps out at you if you stand in just the right spot. The 4D Cinema is inside the Disney-like castle and films show from 10:00am to 6:00pm. The 5D Cinema is in the games building and shows 10 different movies frequently throughout the day.

Bird Park

Near the entrance to the River Safari is also the entrance to the Bird Park. It’s a large aviary with colored parrots and once you get a cup of food at the entrance, they really flock around you.

If you’re like my daughter, you’ll love it. There are some larger parrots and staff to help you make sure you feed them properly. The smaller ones come right over to get the goods though so be prepared.

Handicraft Village

We really enjoyed this area and while it’s not filled with rides, it still has a ton of awesome experiences to partake in. You can learn about Hoi An’s rural life and walk around the mock-village with restored ancient houses, traditional crafts and do some weaving or by some ceramics and paintings from the Quang Nam’s minority groups. It’s beautifully done and we really loved the visit and the staff really enjoyed Ava getting right in there too.

Waterworld

The water park is quite substantial. We spent a lot of time here after riding the rides and checking out the culture area and animals. There’s no pics of the water park though because, well, when you have a five year old and slides and rides with water, there’s pretty much a 100% chance of getting wet and I didn’t want my phone or camera to get wet so they were in the locker the whole time.

Anyhow, there are areas for both little and big kids and adults that just want to watch the little people run around too. There’s a Lazy River, a Tornado Cyclone, Giant Boomerang, and the Superspeed Slide. Plenty to do and plenty of time to do it.

River Safari

This was a pretty epic treat for us and really because it’s awesome to get up close to animals with plenty of space but also because we were the only ones on the ride so it was like we had our own private tour to get up close to the animals. The twenty minute boat safari goes around the impressive collection of animals and at a couple designated spots, you can get off of the boat and feed the elephants and giraffes. We of course said yes and jumped at the chance.

How long does it take to visit VinPearl Land Hoi An?

We spent five hours at the park but definitely could have spent more time there. We road a lot of the rides in Adventure Land and then rushed through the culture zone but definitely could have spent more time there. We did the safari and fed the animals and visited the bird aviary twice before spending the rest of the time at the water park. Five hours was a good amount of time for the kids, though if you have older kids, you could probably spend more time there.

What to wear to VinPearl Land

An amusement park isn’t really the place you want to wear fancy clothes or dresses. While there are some really nice photo-ops, I’d still recommend wearing more comfortable clothes. That said, there is a locker room in the Water Park area so if you wanted to take a dress and change, you could always do it there easily. You’ll also want to take comfortable shoes because it’s a big park that requires a lot of walking.

For the water park, obviously you’ll want a bathing suit. You don’t need to take a towel because you can get one from the water locker key pick up area. As far as bathing suits, most sites recommend that you wear something providing a bit more coverage, which is similar to Korea. Since no one else was there, I can’t say if Vietnamese people do that or not, but just be prepared for that in case I guess.

VinPearl Land is THE place to take kids near Hoi An, Vietnam. It’s a great amusement park that families traveling in Vietnam will love.
